Earth Tones

Earth Tones contribute by providing the notion of warmth, serenity, and harmony. Among earth tones we offer: Pond Moss and Burgundy, as well “toasted colors” such as Cocoa Cream; among many others.

This assortment of colors, because of its low intensity and gloss, will give a touch of distinction to any space. Experts recommend balance, as saturating spaces with earth tones may cause a sensation of fatigue and heaviness. A good reason to use earth tones is that they are a great help in covering and hiding stains and dirt.

Cool Colors

Lighter shades express frailty, freshness, expansion, relaxation, solitude, hope, and peace. Darker shades, where blue prevails, incite a sensation of melancholy, mystery, and heaviness. Lighter shades are used to enlarge spaces. For example, a narrow corridor, acquires a wider feeling when painted colored with a lighter cool color. A blue watery color is perfect to represent metallic surfaces. Dark, saturated greens express depth. Cool colors reduce metabolism significantly and provide a calm, restful atmosphere; ideal for concentration. These colors are especially appropriate for decorating rooms for very active or nervous children, since they transmit a sensation of serenity.

Warm Colors

Warm colors in light shades such as creams and rose, suggest delicacy, femininity, kindness, and hospitality. In darker shades, with a prevalence of red, such as yellow, orange, and purple (in smaller measure), offer a sensation of vitality, power, wealth, and stability. Their tonality also provides a sensation of warmth, and gives the impression of forward-motion, as if it were leaping off the surface, helping to create a visually smaller space. In a horizontal line pattern, warm colors appear to increase the size of the furniture, and elevate ceilings. Burning colors have the power to affect people in many ways, such as the increasing blood pressure and stimulating the nervous system; and in even, to certain extent, stimulate appetite.

Pastels

Light colors or pastels achieve their clarity through an absence of visible color in their composition, they are almost transparent. When clarity increases, the variations among the different tones diminish. Pastels enlighten their surroundings and suggest looseness, rest, softness and flow; as well as a sensation of femininity, kindness, and frailty. Among the extensive range of tones we find ivory, rose, celestial, beige. Pastel colors create clean spaces, increasing the sensation of freedom. They should be used in spaces with little natural light. They make rooms seem wider and roofs higher.
